AASDN Nutrition Specialist Certification

The Nutrition Specialist Certification Program is specifically designed for health, allied health and fitness/wellness professionals who wish to incorporate a nutrition component into their wellness programming. AASDN Nutrition Specialist programs adhere to state licensure laws and ADA guidelines.

Find a Nutrition Specialist

Why become an AASDN Nutrition Specialist

•The decision to pursue professional credentialing is an important step in being recognized as a competent practitioner in one’s chosen discipline. Earning the AASDN Nutrition Specialist Certification provides more than a credible level of expertise; it signifies an aptitude and commitment to one’s profession.
•Many state licensure laws prohibit non-licensed nutrition professionals from incorporating nutrition services. However, a provision in these laws allow allied health professionals to incorporate nutrition education and services when using materials developed by qualified, licensed professionals. AASDN licensed sports dietitians/nutritionists have developed all program materials for The Nutrition Specialist program.

•AASDN is the industry leader in nutrition certification for health and fitness professionals.  The AASDN Nutrition Specialist program was created over 15 years ago and is the industries leading nutrition certification.

•AASDN Nutrition Specialist Certification is the only nutrition certification to offer scripted programs, all documents needed to immediately incorporate a nutrition program and unlimited sports dietitian support thereby providing safe, effective and legal programs to the public.

As a Nutrition Specialist you receive:

A "turnkey" business plan that allows you to immediately incorporate nutrition services into your existing wellness program (legal documents, administrative documents, educational handouts, menu plans and more)

•Unlimited support by an AASDN Sports Dietitian through email at no additional charge.
•Scripted programs including one-on-one program, group program, youth program, scripted grocery shopping tours and more

Become an AASDN Nutrition Specialist! Join top professionals in your field that are incorporating nutrition services.

Program Theme

The theme of the Nutrition Specialist Certification Program is to provide sound, scientific, and life saving nutrition information to professionals—health and fitness professionals, athletic trainers, coaches, physical therapists, physicians, hospital ancillary staff, and educators. These professionals, using materials developed by licensed sports nutritionists and dietitians, can then disseminate this information to patients, clients, and students. These professionals provide the link between the scientific research community, the licensed nutrition professional and the general public.

Program Goal

The main goal of this program is to educate professionals in the science of nutrition, its role in health and weight management and to provide the necessary materials/documents/tools for professionals to be able to incorporate nutrition into their fitness/wellness programs.

Program Training

AASDN provides preparation training materials and several training options. However, candidates are not required to purchase, enroll, or participate in any AASDN educational offerings. Candidates may purchase the AASDN Nutrition Specialist Certification Exam without purchasing any AASDN materials or programs. Download a copy of the Candidate Handbook for a description of the exam content.
