Lucinda is a graduate of Montclair State University where she received her BS in Nutrition and Food Science with a concentration in dietetics and was chosen out of thousands of applicants to complete her dietetic internship in New York City where she focused on Medical Nutrition Therapy and Community Nutrition. Soon after becoming a dietitian, Lucinda graduated from Muhlenberg School of Nursing and holds a license as a Registered Nurse in the State of NJ. She has practiced at various NJ and NYC hospitals and completed clinical work in areas such as critical care, pediatrics, diabetes, oncology, geriatrics, and numerous medical surgical units. Lucinda designed and managed the GO RED heart health awareness events and created the new pediatric diabetic menu at Staten Island University Hospital. She is also a W.I.T.S. Certified Personal Trainer since 2001 and currently works for W.I.T.S. as a Practical Test Evaluator to instruct and assess the practical skills of student fitness trainers. Lucinda has been chosen by her previous instructors to become the Nutrition Educator at Muhlenberg Nursing School Summer Camp for high school senior students who aspire to attend nursing school.
For the past four years, she has attended the summer camp and instructed students on nursing-related nutritional topics while developing intriguing learning activities to engage the students, which has been a major success for students. She was also a Nutrition Educator for the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Union County where she developed lesson plans for NJ Expanded Food and Nutrition Program. Lucinda has also been a Nutrition Educator for the Union County Division on Aging where she has created lessons for the Congregate Meal Program emphasizing principles directed towards the elderly population in relation to health and wellness. Lucinda also holds certification from the New Jersey State Board of Education where she works as a substitute nurse throughout the district and works with students grades pre-k-12. She has recently been accepted to Kean University Graduate School and is working on her Masters Degree in Community Nursing and School Nurse Certificate. She holds various other certifications including AASDN Nutrition Specialist Certification, Zumba Licensed Instructor, Group Exercise Instructor and is American Red Cross CPR Certified and loves to volunteer with any additional time she has. She is extremely passionate and skillful in her work and her goal is to change the lives of others, improve eating habits, increase physical activity of all ages and it all begins with education.
